My family's Christmas traditions are very special to me! At holiday time we always get a tree to put our presents under! When you get a tree you need to know how tall your ceilings are so you don't get one too big or too small. Then, who ever is working there can cut dead branches off the tree so it looks pretty. Also, you need to cut the tree's base so it can stand sturdy.
After we get our tree we like to decorate it. It's also my favorite part about Christmas! Every year we get a new ornament for the tree! This year we got an ornament that has a G on it for Grace! It is very special to me because I got it from my family!
We also like to collect nutcrackers to place around the house. We have lots of nutcrackers now. My favorite nutcracker is a travel nutcracker. He holds a suitcase covered in stamps from all over the world and there are foreign coins inside the suitcase.
My mom loves to play holiday music the entire month of December. One of our favorite songs is Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.

ReplyDeleteDear Grace,
What a fantastic post about your family's holiday traditions. I love traditions of all kinds!
When you mentioned that you need to get a tree that is just right for you, it reminded me of Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree because each character had a tree that was too tall, but the top made a perfect tree for the next character!
My favorite tradition this time of year is singing. All of my life, my mother has played Christmas carols. Sometimes lots of people gather around her piano and sing and other times it's just my mom and me!
I ♥ how you used such high-level vocabulary in your post. Plus, you used the correct HTML code to make the words and phrases stand out! Great work, Grace!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Dear Grace,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your holiday traditions, I always enjoy learning about people's traditions.
We celebrate Christmas also, but with a fake tree! My mom would love a real one, however she says it's too much work. So, for now we're stuck with a fake one, but I still think it's beautiful. The good thing about having a fake tree is that you can put it up early. My family tradition is to put up our tree right after Thanksgiving.
You mentioned that you got an ornament that has a G on it, last year when we were in Yosemite my parents bought an L (for Leila) and an H (for Hannah) ornament. Both of them are on our tree right now.
I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Your post about family traditions is very interesting. It sounded like the story Mrs. Madnick read to us because you said you cut the tree top. Miriam celebrates Hanukkah so she doesn't know a lot about Christmas. Miriam's family tradition is to light Hanukkah candles. Kristen celebrates Christmas so she knows a lot about the holiday. Her family tradition is to decorate the Christmas tree with ornaments.
Merry Christmas Grace!

Dear Grace,
ReplyDeleteWe love Christmas and start decorating in November. I have a beautiful Christmas village that I set up and then sprinkle with "snow". I play Christmas music and burn candles as I unwrap each piece. When it's all set-up, I begin turning on the village houses one by one. Once that display is complete, and each house lit up, the holiday season begins for me.
Merry Christmas,
Laura
